Keith King joins Mike to talk veterans business certifications and to share sea stories about his time in Vietnam.
Keith has spent 37 years in volunteer to his fellow Veterans fueled by his belief that he was one of the lucky ones to have survived his Vietnam tour and “made it home”. Success in his personal and business life has allowed him to exercise his passion to help those who were not as fortunate. Through the years, Keith has taken on a variety of leadership roles on the National, State and Local levels with the same purpose of helping his brother and sister veterans through service, no matter the task required. He is committed to helping today’s veterans as they transition out of the military and back into American society.
Keith King enlisted in the U.S Army in 1969. After completing the Army’s Military Police Advance training he was sent directly to Vietnam. He served with the 18th Brigade (218th and 630th MP companies) and was a specialist E-4 when honorably discharged. Keith was based in the Central highlands of Vietnam mostly in Nha Trang and Cam Ranh Bay but in 1970, Keith King was a 19-year-old M-60 machine gunner with the U.S. Army's military police, protecting supply convoys running ammunition along the dangerous routes to American troops fighting in South Vietnam's war-torn Central Highlands. Keith shares the experiences of laying hate and discontent from his mounted “pig”, seeing napalm for the first time, and the true happiness that can only be found in an M79 grenade launcher.
His awards include The Vietnam Campaign ribbon with device (M-60 machine gun), Vietnam Service Medal (with 2 bronze campaign stars), Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Medal.
