One Liner:Transcript of Cody's big ones:[0:00] Music.
[0:35] Red Jordan boots the Geordie piss.
[0:43] Now I was listening to an interview on Sam Harris. And some says what you do pal and the guy says something like I'm a political scientist. I study how politics moves markets and how we can benefit from those moves. Something simple later that kind of said to me. Wow it's clear it's concise and it's quite exciting really because. If anybody can actually predict the movements at the markets you can quit your job.
[1:32] You can balance your risk correctly. And it's such a such a simple introduction or quite exciting get you thinking political scientist. Who studies our politics moves the markets and you don't own business doing that, the excitement of that aside got me thinking that was really crisp clear introduction sounds quite quite exciting. Supporting my little idea what if I you, came up with their two cents introduction for ourselves. And then work backwards to make that a reality is that I think what happens in business too much is that you can't get this grand idea. Start to do it implement it.
[2:29] Move forward you're always making progress but you've kinda forgot that that first initial to line description and what you do and then everything becomes fuzzy and then you yourself and the business can lose focus. So rather than been starting from building a business in into something and then concentrating on your elevator pitch, what if you wear it backwards on on a to see description of who you want to be, and when you've got that clear you look out a builder you always keep those two sentences written down clear in your mind, to let me to take the political science example update excite me so I could think yeah political scientist who looked at her. Markets are influenced by politics so I need to be that I need to be concentrating on.
[3:30] Politics and economy if I want to meet up my business and think about it just going to be business is out there, to pay you even if you don't trade the markets directly to pay you a consultation fee to give them that information if you do it right because it's, the effects of profound the huge if if you can actually demonstrate away that your data made correct predictions see where backups from those two sentences right, what would I then need to walk my marketing material be with my influences be on Katy B, we looked at the trump election and predicted xyz, and then you know how correlation and causation in a lot of examples as isn't really linked you can make it look link easily, see you then you start to wear park on that marketing material, on out something you said kind of been linked there you know I'm crazy that's that's going to be great and then you actually get involved in some kind of political education and the economy and start building a business from now, now that too line description was an example think of your own two line you know you might be there now and thinking what the fuck the poem.
[4:57] Give yourself give yourself a 2 sentence description of something you be excited to introduce yourself as then work backwards.
[5:09] Thought from the Sam Harris introduction anyway. Not clear the schedule this is a blood poster wrote and not going to go into details can't be asked for if if you want to, you look into the bit more detail Google blog doesn't whistle., look at cleared schedule it's cold and basically it's you actually use your daily to do some days. You going to wake up and he just not going to fancy a, or you can have to be something now going away in the back of your mind like an amazing idea or something there something that's just kind of bubble and, you've got all these bits and pieces on your to-do list don't be overwhelmed by the to-do list it's there to help, you feel something bubbling and you don't feel like you're going to benefit working through those tasks one by one today, clear the schedule important thing is don't let them just sit there and don't do them because they said they're not going away in the back of your mind and your file onto front, going now I make the choice to take that one because it's right rear care and I'll pop up tomorrow anyway move that one take that one this schedule at 1 to next week and make sure your diary for today is clear, and then when it's clear.
[6:32] Before call but allow that that you made you thought to come through or not come through the important thing is you've cleared you schedule you've made a choice that today is not the day for the Grind. Today is possible.
[6:52] Breakthrough doesn't be huge breakthrough could be something small but you're giving yourself the opportunity to think freely.
[7:07] The little circle I've got to you've got it you've got to stay caffeinated in the morning.
[7:18] And I know I've been using a watch to calculate how many over try and look at it 3 3 hits. I'm on way to 5 song.
[7:30] Police are Jordan Peterson Peterson and he's is very popular at the moment. And I don't necessarily understand what he says or I'm going to be able to interpret his thoughts on religion correctly I'm going to give it up give it a go.
[7:53] Basically this guy is a clinical psychologist. When is talks about psychology related stuff is always clear and he's always Chris and precise, you can always get behind what he say anything that's really interesting and it makes sense to I love this guy. Then when it comes to religion he gets really worry he's not clear and precise and you start talking for one of a better description, like a politician in kind of talks around the issues and introduces stories and he's just like when you talking to him when you listen to him from a clinical psychologist perspective is really clear quote.
[8:38] You're fine I didn't say that I said this in the meaning was that but then when I get some to religion I feel it just gets a bit Woolly and I've always thought it was his motivation behind religion then because there's a disconnect for me, and I'm am interested in there somebody smart as that is so clever and so many aspects talk about religion, but then so William religion so I face I can play with it it's monetary being sense of his money, maybe when he was up and coming he's got a lot of Christian followers he doesn't want to alienate them so he's kind of just keep in a generic when he's talking about religion. And then I started listening to morning thought no that's not true because I won't go into why. Then I was listening to his thoughts on religion a, Sam Harris discussions or somewhere else for basically says. Thinking the first Sam Harris interview I've read a lot but is not actually listen to the first one I missed it but have listened to the second one and discussions poster. Desert a discussion about truth. And somehow says truth is let's a double blind experiment.
[9:58] Scientific agreement of Truth. Where is on this is Where My Interpretation may not be correct Jordan Peterson says no truth is.
[10:12] The continuation of your species now let's take two examples. So we got religion we got Davies religious and we've got my two isn't and Dave believes in God, and he's got a sense of meaning in his life and he has children. Where is Mike is strictly scientific and he struggles with meaning and. He doesn't enjoy life as much and it doesn't have kids this extreme example and he dies.
[10:49] So you've got Dave religious children make scientific no children, Jordan Peterson saying truth is the one that allows their species to continue so if they're the stories in the Bible excetera blah blah bring me nan and therefore you're able to go on another meaning for Life in children, that's more important than just believing in empirical data and but not having a sense of meaning and struggling a little bit more on life, and this agreement between the two of them and I have been pondering this recently I have been pondering it because I'm I'm not religious and I do struggle with the meaning aspect. I kinda a mile to meet a few different things that I've heard and read like basically the latest conclusion is years and years ago red Richard Dawkins The Selfish Gene and then he talks about.
[11:46] Knocking against detail at chilly but do it the conclusion of Reach at the moment is that we are vessels for our jeans. An infected jeans have a chance to be immortal because the genes are passed down from Generation to generation, and all these emotions and everything that we have on our lives or just an elaborate plan to get us to meet, have sex of children and pass on Genes that know when that is when you kind of got that is your belief system. You don't really have, great you know you don't really have big inspirations for the human race or or anything really because it's not not very poor and is it, it's not very grand that we are just vessels for a jeans and everything else is just fluffy stuff to make us procreate, no sense of fulfillment there. Where is if I had five religion and I was able to believe in that does a much greater sense of meaning and fulfillment and happiness. And you know I'm not religious and I'm not going to go that way but when I hear Jordan Peterson put it that way it was interesting it was interesting.
[13:11] And just to expand on that a little bit I thought I had the other day whilst I was out walking his is this same story of kind of and Jim of life when we've got a gym of life. And if you're born the mail.
[13:28] It's all you've got natural decent build and you're good looking can you go into the gym life. And you find life relatively easy because you know there's all those things like if you ask around the strange in the street between two people who owns more than actually think it's the guy who's taller. And you can see how that could transfer through to business when people looking at promotions all these tiny little things height good luck, all these tiny little things do I believe they do play a role in other people's choices so it if somebody if somebody's got all those attributes and he walked into the gym of life, and they also say people who are good looking get a general sense that life's fairer than those who aren't, they think I like fair in one's a vedic cetera and it's because, inserting female this is a good looking female has an easier life than one that's not so good luck looking so therefore her perception that life is fair derived from something out of her control.
[14:45] That's not fair is it really but your life isn't fair.
[14:52] Go back to the analogy but the gym of life you eat all you good looking. And you're walking and you you you go through and you lifting lightweight just to make your way in life you left in life. You not got the resistance that other people have and you live and you have relatively happy life in this scenario and you die and you think your life was fair, now let's pretend that you don't have not been afforded all these genetic, lottery winnings and it's a lot more stuff for you. So to get an equal place in the world equal in sense of good-looking girlfriend equal pay such a bob or anything you can see there, something nice to have you've got to work harder, so in this game of Life the thought I had you lifting heavy lifting heavier weight. No two things are going to happen you're either going to walk out at the end of each day. Mentally stronger Let It Be course of 20 years of lifting.
[16:08] You're going to walk up mentally stronger and.
[16:14] The nut that Houston the person is lifting lighter weights so you've got an offer chief got through opportunity to grow yet you are gonna have to try harder but you've been afforded the ability to lift heavier. So to really tone yourself your mind your your adapt because you have to.
[16:37] This cuts two ways as well does the people who on a Ford of the abilities bought, and the giving it an element of weight and they can lift it to go into the gym and they can perform and then leave do come out rounded and then they survive 2, because all I need not got the sense of fairness that they are good looking people tall people accept your blah blah I've got.
[17:06] They've adapted and come out stronger is about to lift more weight and that's nice that's great. Then there's those who can't lift the weight. And the struggle and it's through no fault of their own you don't choose your jeans you don't even choose your environment you're born into a place and time, and sometimes people can be born into place and time where the gym at life the weight too heavy and then. Listen I ain't fucking clinical psychologist so don't take anything that im saying you with all them with any sense of Truth everything needs to be taken with a lot of salt was just imagine for a second list, this is a valid analogy they struggle with the weight.
[18:02] Maybe that's the source of where anxiety and depression comes from maybe maybe there in the gym and. Maybe they they they did they cut the same looks and the same height as the person next to them but they throw them.
[18:21] The differences did not got a spotty. So everything else about this single person's the same apart from they've got a spotter which is strong friends strong parents, so what are the weights heavy to got somebody they're helping them and the end up driving where is this other person hasn't got great parents hasn't got great friendship. So they can't lift the weight and then depression kid kicks in maybe stop wait just gets too much suicide. Now you know I'm talking to go on a bit crazy yeah.
[19:05] I'm just thinking out loud it's a got to be fair there. So we've now got somebody in the gym my life is struggling and and they can't lift the weight let's introduce religion.
[19:24] Let's say, religion that sense of purpose and meaning and it's a delusion but that actually gives them strength to lift the way, and it just changes the balance from unable to able. That additional sense of the risen meaning there's a god and being judged everything happens for a reason I'll be rewarded when I'm at the gates because I'm a nice person, and yet you read the stories from the Bible any use that as your strength and that strength allows you to lift and you become strong.
[20:08] Me not interesting isn't it interesting for somebody.
[20:16] Like me who calls people who are religious delusional. Naturally stripper back to the gym life analogy if they use religion to strengthen themselves and be able to survive and then become happy and thrive in reality. Who am I to call out of delusion.
[20:44] Maybe Jordan Peterson is right maybe religion in the sense of some. Higher power fucking floating above the clouds you know is that an actual truth that you are at the gate to Heaven maybe that's irrelevant. Maybe that's what babe Jordan's coming from but maybe just that sense of purpose and and the strength of that brings to some people allows them. To survive this world ionut si give me some cause for consideration really when.
[21:26] Think and am smarter or or more switched on than a religious counterpart. Maybe it's a lot bit more complicated than that interesting.
[21:48] Not bring it bring it down a few levels got quite deep there.
[21:53] My crypto saver no affiliation are sucking blah blah blah blah blah d dirty literally don't know who I am older than the customer so. Hiya my crypto say that I've mentioned it before getting the UK you should be on this because. When it comes to crypto you want to put your money in you want to leave it in long term and you wanted to be stress-free and then 10 years time you love me profit with my opinion it's the tool happy days, my crypto say that you make a deposit on a Monday you tell them what was it you wanted to send it to, they do it on a Friday and I've got it for free because I signed up early, I think they think if you email them and say I was thinking of coming across that is the best pizza still happening in the UK or if not can I just have fee free anyway I want to sign off of a day on, This podcast will don't mention me it doesn't matter I'm just trying to get you in for fee free, it just makes sense because it takes all the stress out you do a bank transfer to them and they put it in your wallet do you still got the money it's not sat on their Exchange they don't own it then your wallet and you just got a fee free transfer, without any stress.
[23:14] I don't know it just it just makes a lot of sense to me it was a blog post about it going have a look at blog. Humpwhistle. Con mycrypto saver, making a difference to me I just think it's a really valuable skiing fiance crypto new in the UK do it the Netherlands as well that's where we came from nothing New Zealand I'm from New Zealand, now there's another another blog post called discard the current task which is, discard the tax which is fucking awful name out now I think about it just so wrong basically it's a blog post about.
[23:52] You've been asked to do a today. And you decide you're not going to do a on the back your mind you know you're not going to do it now don't leave it lingering there's something you're not going to do you don't even have to tell the person you're not going to do it. Ok the important thing is that you consciously say to yourself I'm not going to do it. Consider the consequences I'm not going to do it this person may say why wasn't that task done right did you sing any use this this right that's fine not going to do it. And then you move on with your day now.
[24:37] Not really set out exam exactly what's going on their own trying to say this is a huge difference between. Just not doing something and letting time pass and let it meet up at your Cycles behind and having a sense of failure, that a subconscious sense of failure there's a difference between that and thinking in your own mind, I'm not right this is what the consequences of not doing this action are right I'm not going to do it anyway, and then whatever happens happens I've consciously said to myself I've consider the consequences and I've consciously said I'm not going to do it and that might be to deal with the consequences, there's a big psychology difference there in my life and something I want to share with you, 20 difficult to explain as a blog post on it called discard the task terrible name going to go and look it up on the blog if you want but the bottom line is next time something comes up that someone is asked you to do all this is a test and it might not even involve anybody else but there's something there, instead of just not doing it and letting time pass. Battle sap your energy consciously consider that you're not going to do it and then fucking forget about it. Very difficult to explain that one go on reader.
[26:05] I'm not now I've got a little little note about to somebody on read it in a Linux forum on my god I'm going to bring this up at 2 can't bother because when we can script it's terrible just some guy. On the limit credit who says it's just apologising to the Solace Development Team, something it said the day before basically said I'm sorry, Taemin calling your product a load of shit I've since slept on it and realise that was in the wrong you guys are doing a great job. I'm not take this just no hint hidden agenda or anything he just you just said sorry for going off on one I was out of order. And there's nothing other to the new Big point to glean from this other than that takes strength I can't implement to listen to my personality years ago and don't speak about it now but.
[27:05] And I'm not great but what I'm trying to say is when you realise you're wrong about something. The strength you can give yourself and, you see that guy he's come off stronger to me than what you did there before throwing your toys out the pram and just square man and then kind of haven't cognitive dissidents the day after, telling yourself stories are you alright to throw my toys out the pram is not a strong personality trait a strong personality traits is making the choice, weak waking up the next day thinking fucking out I may have been wrong not just Falling Into the Trap of cognitive dissonance. Reevaluating and apologising that strength that's not weakness.
[28:01] And you can see the link in their show notes if you want to read a bit more into that's it against difficult to explain not the final thing I'm going to finish off with I love Sam Harris. But he's gotten a patreon introduction now at the beginning of This podcast for 7 minutes that I've always loved the way you said I can't talk it over to the show, I'm not gonna put advertisements on you now if it if it cost it's buying a cup of coffee, hate you or you have to consider the price of a Cup cup of coffee to pay me $2 a month $3 a month will don't do it but if it if it's making a difference to your bank balance will do it you can Sam Harris is PT, I thought fucking brilliant that but now he's got a 7 minute introduction, going over it each time and I think he's forgot you can't I'm only did it at the end of it shows once every couple of months and he kind of didn't do the the same recording you just Jenny money did it from his heart each time, last two or three at the 7 minute introduction at the beginning I just feel as if he's fucking forgot something.
[29:09] Forgot that means you just got dollar signs in his eyes now I don't know but. He's missing something I just wanted to say some fuck off just bullshit sort yourself out. Think that supplies boys and girls so yeah I'm not in the religious front just a consideration really. Consideration if it gives people The Strand to survive.
[29:39] Is it bad whether or not we believe it or not I don't know I don't think I should be the judge. Peace out homies.
Buy me a coffee
