How To Fail & Achieve Your Goals
If you really want to achieve great things, if you have big goals worth pursuing, then you may want to be ready to fail.
Before we get any further, I don’t like losing. I know I’m not alone. But, I have to say “I REALLY don’t like losing.” It is kind of a joke in my family about how competitive I can get. If I’m playing a game, then I want to win. That’s the point right?
When I set a goal, I want to achieve it! Of course, I want to succeed. In fact, of course, I want you to succeed too.
So, why the heck did I start by telling you to be ready to fail? I don’t want you to fail at achieving your goals. I want you to be willing to fail.
Are You Willing To Fail? If you’re not willing to fail (at least a little bit), then you won’t take any risks. You won’t step out and give your absolute best to achieve your goals and make your life more what you want it to be. You won’t. Success in any area takes some risks.
Are you willing to step out of your comfort zone (at least a little bit) in order to improve? Are you willing to risk things not working out just perfect? Maybe even risk looking a little dumb for trying so hard?
When you’re willing to accept the consequences (getting uncomfortable, things not working perfect, even being made fun of), then you’re capable of achieving more.
Is It Really Bad? To be completely honest, I don’t like the word failure. It seems to mean many different things. If fail at one step as I strive toward my goal, did it really fail? Maybe.
There will always be ups and downs along any journey to improve. As long as there is learning and persistence there can be progress and improvement.
Is it failure if you learn and improve? Not really. Things can not work out how you’d like in one moment, but if you don’t give up, you can still make the progress you want.
If failure is just things not turning out exactly how I want, then I fail ALL the time. I mean all the time. At the same time, my life keeps getting better. Why? How can things keep going not how I want AND I get more of what I really want? Simple – try to learn, improve, and never give up. Just try.
Be Willing I get that failure can be scary. It’s scary to me. I have a family. They are my priority. I love them and don’t want anything to bad, unpleasant, or even uncomfortable to happen to any of them. So, for me, I’m talking about small failures. Failing within reason per say.
What would you do if you knew that you couldn’t fail?
This question can start you on the right track. You can begin to explore all that you are capable of achieving.
Conquering your big goals can require you to be brave. Not stupid – Brave.
How would you act if you knew you couldn’t fail? Would you go ‘All In’ for your goals?
Would you give it all you have? Would you strive to create the life you want?
It’s funny. Thinking that we can’t fail or fully accepting that we may fail either way of thinking can help us succeed.
Both can lead to the us taking the action needed for the desired results.
Change takes work. Goal require action.
Go All In!
Failure happens. Don’t let it stop you.
