The Indianapolis Colts notably started the season 1-5, and finished as the hottest team in the league winning 10 of their last 11 games of the regular season. Naturally, the Colts season ended in the Divisional round in Kansas City with a bit of a fizzle. But, this isn't a funeral, rather far more like the birth of the new-look Colts.
Also on today's show, Matt dives in to news of Chris Ballard earning the PFWA's Executive of the Year honor as well as the Colts looking to move in another direction with their offensive line coaches. While most considered Ballard a top candidate for this award, firing their OL coach may have come as a bit of a surprise to most of us.
Throughout the season, the Colts showed various improvements. The OL was so much better than it's been in the recent past, the Colts' rookie class offered considerable contribution to the success of the team, Andrew Luck started somewhat slowly, but really took off and showed that he deserves to be amongst the NFL's elite quarterback conversation.
Additionally, the Colts' position coaches and coordinators showed their mettle throughout the season and really sparked some great national conversation. Frank Reich was excellent with his play-calling, Matt Eberflus directed a much improved defense and others like RB coach Tom Rathman really excelled in their roles as well.
Free agency is on the horizon, the draft will be exciting once again despite the Colts not having a top-10 pick, and the process of deciding who the Colts will hang on to and re-sign will be very interesting to watch. Also, Matt discusses the direction of the Colts Cast for the next couple weeks.
