Our thankful thought for today is this: Criticism comes in many different forms. Sometimes it is gentle and meaningful, many other times it is scathing and harsh. At times it is needed and in order, at other times it is inappropriate and only given to make someone else look bad or the source of it look good. No matter how we view it, criticism is a part of all of our lives at some point or another. The beauty of criticism for those on the receiving end is to accept it with grace and gratitude. Not one of us is perfect, and we are susceptible to the approval or disapproval of others. The thing is to be open to all criticism but not to allow it to affect you. Never let criticism get to your heart, or compliments get to your head, for that matter. In all it's forms, we are subject to growth, to learning, to being better. And in so doing, we can be grateful for the criticism we encounter along the way.
Our quote of thanks is from Marianne Williamson. She said, "Blessings, mercy, tenderness, nature, forgiveness, and compassionate relationships exits in our world, yet they compete with the noise and obsessions of video games, computers, greed, and peer pressure. We know we're off balance, yet we often struggle to realign ourselves. Rarely do we realize that if we simply take time to marvel at life's gifts and give thanks for them, we activate stunning opportunities to increase their influence in our lives."
Our Bible verse of thanks is 2 Chronicles 31:2 (MSG). It reads, "Hezekiah organized the groups of priests and Levites for their respective tasks, handing out job descriptions for conducting the services of worship: making the various offerings, and making sure that thanks and praise took place wherever and whenever God was worshiped."
