Our thankful thought for today is this: Choosing gratitude saves us from doubt, fear, depression, and all such negative feelings. It holds us back from falling into these attitudes that our human nature pulls us to – attitudes of entitlement, pride, and greed. Gratitude causes us to see the best even in the worst situations. It gives us joy for the journey, contentment beyond measure, and a wonderful perspective on life. It is easy to say with our mouth, I'm going to be grateful, but it is a consistent, mindful, heartfelt decision that actually causes us to live life in a grateful manner.
Our quote of thanks is from Joseph Hall. He said, "There be three usual causes of ingratitude upon a benefit received - envy, pride, and covetousness; envy, looking more at other's benefits than our own; pride, looking more at ourselves than at the benefit; covetousness, looking more at what we would have than at what we have."
Our Bible verse of thanks is Matthew 26:27. It reads, "And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you."
