Episode 4 is Adrian Barraclough of Quickslide.
Before we get into the interview a few bits of housekeeping. Firstly, I hope you're enjoying the podcasts so far. I'm recording the conversations on my iPhone and not using any sophisticated recording gear, so hopefully the sound quality is acceptable. If these podcasts take off I might invest in better kit, but for now I hope you're OK with a more amateur sound. You might hear us shuffling in our seats, or fiddling with our pens, and other background noises, so apologies in advance for this.
Secondly, all the podcasts will be available on my website as you'd expect, and I'll be promoting through Twitter and LinkedIn when a new one goes live. I'm hoping to have one new interview per week, and I have some big industry names lined up. Also, and this is the exciting bit for me, the podcasts are available on iTunes, so you can download the conversations to your smart phones and listen in on your way to work, or when you're having a run, or in the bath, or whatever takes your fancy. Just search Renegade Conservatory Guy in the iTunes store and you should find me.
So, I mentioned just then that I've got some big names lined up. Well, today we've got a big name with a big personality. A fellow Yorkshireman Adrian began his working life as a joiner at the Coachworks in York. As the Coachworks closed down, Adrian was forced to fend for himself and his entrepreneurial spirit developed, he made a few mistakes which he learnt from, developed as a businessman, found his way into the window industry and the rest is history.
In this interview we talk about the philosophies which have shaped his career, the purpose of business, his strong views on taxation, phoenix companies and the banks. Having been in other industries he's very complementary about our industry and the people in it. We talked for over an hour so I hope you don't get bored. How could you though? What's more interesting than talking about vertical sliding sash windows that are made in Brighouse???
Well, I really enjoyed interviewing Adrian, so I hope you enjoy listening...
