Mobile announced that they were no longer be supplying Tesla with their services due to worries over safety. Tesla countered with claims that it was due to Tesla developing their own autonomous systems, which Mobileye had previously provided. Mobileye then responded to that with claims that they had reassurances AutoPilot would only be activated if the driver was holding the steering wheel, which was not what happened. Oh, and they won’t air dirty laundry in public! Doubtful we’ll ever know who actually said/agreed to what. Whilst Andrew agrees there should be stiffer penalties, this does raise the question that if there aren’t the police on the roads to, erm, police this is there any point in having it? He rigorously tested it in real world driving conditions by sitting in the dreadful traffic that seemed to envelope London last Friday. He did it so the rest of us don’t have to! But he was very impressed. The EV nature of the drivetrain made travelling for five hours through London as relaxing as it could have been whilst being behind the wheel of a car.
