How to be a Better White Person
The goal of How to be a Better White Person is to instruct white Americans, who make up more than 70 percent of the U.S. population, on how to be better as being better relates to understanding the race, class and gender expectations and realities of black men. I temper my ideas and emotions with the facts of being black in America. And I do it in such a way that they are accessible to the blissfully ignorant among us. I don’t think most white Americans understand how far ahead of me they are socially, economically and constitutionally—certainly because they’re white and undeniably because I’m black.
