Our guest this week is CEO and Co-Founder of Precision Hydration, Andy Blow. A few weeks ago we had Sarah Crowley on to talk about her podium performance in Kona and win at IRONMAN Arizona. As a part of that show we also had a discussion about how she prepares for hot races. Part of that preparation is training and racing with Precision Hydration. We have the sweat expert, Andy Blow joining us in just a few minutes.
Thanks to last week's guest - 7 time All American, Pan American Combined Events Champion, 5 time Team USA representative, and 2020 Decathlon Olympic hopeful, Chris Helwick. You can listen to the interview on episode #212 or you can read it in the Blog

Interview with Andy Blow:
Andy grew up in Leicester, in the Midlands, U.K. playing soccer. He found his way to triathlon while attending Bath University, where he studied sport science, and discovered he had a knack for it. He suffered a lot with nutrition and hydration issues in the longer, hotter races. This was ultimately the catalyst for him to learning more about that and in the end setting up Precision Hydration.
Let's get into the interview now with Andy Blow.

Discussion:
Folks, I have some additional information that Andy and his team have made available to us. First, there three blog posts that I highly recommend you check out. More on that in a minute.
The folks at PH have set up a 15% discount code for you to use at PrecisionHydration.com. You will just need to enter the code MHE code at checkout to get 15% off your entire first order from the PH website and that code can be used on top of the multi-buy discounts that are already locked into our store.
There were three great blog posts on the PH website and the links are in the show notes. Those articles are:
How to start hydrated and why that's so important -When people talk about hydration, most of the time it's about what and how much athletes should drink during exercise. This blog aims to give you a more solid understanding of what you can do to arrive at the start of your next event optimally hydrated.
How to measure your sweat rate to improve your hydration strategy - Estimating your sweat rate can be a useful exercise when you’re trying to figure out how much and what you need to drink (in terms of fluids and electrolytes) during training and events. This article explains the equipment you need, the process and calculations.
How to estimate your sweat sodium losses - When it comes to understanding how to hydrate properly you need to consider two things, how much you’re sweating (your sweat rate - usually measured in ml per hour) and how much salt you’re losing in that sweat (your sweat concentration. i.e. how 'salty' your sweat is).
Understanding both of these gives you an overall appreciation of your net fluid and sodium losses over a given period of time and this enables you to work out a sensible personalized hydration plan.

KHMTT Showing Leadership and how the USAC and USAT partnership is working.
The Karen Hornbostel Memorial Time Trial Series, USA Triathlon, USA Cycling, and Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado have joined together to offer USA Triathlon members a highly discounted entry to the KHMTT seven-week time trial series.
This is a perfect opportunity to get an early start on preparing for the upcoming season. By racing competitively each week, you can compare your times for each week and your fitness. KHMTTopened up the program to any USAT member, which means the program is not limited to triathletes who do not have a USAC license. That means if a USAT member already has a USAC license, their entry fee for the KHMTT is reduced from $170 to $135.
This is a limited time offer, and will not be available after February 29, 2020. Go to https://khmtt.com/usat-registration-start/ for more information.
