One Liner:Transcript of Cody's big ones:[0:00] Music.
[0:35] Sugarpea Goldberg all single the show goes on.
[0:47] It's beneficial for all all inclusive of everybody.
[0:57] I've been listening to psychology lectures on Audible. I've Been Loving them 15 hours, of pure unadulterated lecture regurgitation by David W Martin.
[1:26] The great courses if you don't audible and you like psychology. Psychology of human behaviour David W Martin by the great courses beautiful.
[1:44] Yeah I'm for you the details but it goes over the history and it goes over. Treatments talk therapy not going over drugs and drugs affect the mind etc Trillium comprehensive exciting.
[2:02] Smokeping smokeping. This is a technical tool hire now I'm back onto technical shirt as well I am back onto.
[2:18] Just water today it's too late. 20 4:22 you can't be you can't be having freshly ground coffee beans at 4:20 in the evening they share a fucking psychopath. Smokeping on the other hand, is a you know how much I don't want to both measurement and monitoring for improvement, in all walks of life will smokeping I always looking for something I've got lots of home devices on my home network now and I looked at Nike off solar winds various others, I nearly there.
[3:06] To overkill I'm not just overkill I can't deal with overkill in terms of setting up and configuration bitch I ain't got no problems with that, or either configuring the notes was just too complicated, or it was just it was doing too much or they were trying to upsell to other product, nothing at me I've been looking I must say for home network monitoring over a year ended up with AMCO paying 3, we get 5 notes and you know what it was decent that was decent so I thought you know what fucking I like they still, so I am going to ring them up because the free 1 gives you 5 notes but I wanted the pro it was $99.
[4:01] So I thought I can't I'm not paying $99 I paid 20 quid 30 quid I'm paying more than that and got time for that so I'm going to call them up, I'm going to use this new abilities I've learnt through podcasting to communicate to smooth talk myself into some discounts, the list of the company and they based in Iceland now highest rates of depression over there is one thing I remember about Iceland starting to be extra, nice for angle a lot. Hi I've been using you or your free product at home I love it too late do you have a question. This isn't going away anticipated yeah you've known all of it are you part of the sales on in sales and marketing team do you have question. Yeah $99 bit too steep for me you know that for a home user but I do love the product is there anything we can can it know.
[5:17] Ok thank you very much goodbye that's interesting. I guess guess not really unexpected don't sign a website various bits and it was a press linked press at, spam whatever Swanley to fucking play the card I've never done this before play the card don't have to tell them how many subscribers I've got, blog looks that website looks on cake is it by partying so just thought I'd try this email press at. I would love to try your product for the show you know what I mean and. I'll go on there I'll review see how it comes along but can't I'm not going to pay $99 just to get a feel for the product is running no response so fucked on mate. That's why that's why you got to stick with open source which bring us back to smoke pain.
[6:18] Topan it's free Italy. Easy to install or install it yet you add nodes through a text file. YouTube editor edit a text while you put the IP address in the name at the Node that's a drawers cha. Pretty little charts on latency and other stuff have a look at some screenshot on I can go on about anymore, hello brick size of my story than mother emcl remote desktop services right ok let's talk about remote desktop services you know I like Linux. I like Linux I should talk windows every day all day every day I call a ship those.
[7:06] Chicken curry for 4 people for everybody else if they like it, but I found I built a remote desktop services environment in mine development on my development reg to proxmox, beautiful piece of software that open source Linux based but able to remote desktop services environment you need to service obviously you need to. Why would you just need one server for one solution now have to the minimum number fucking servers duplicate everything, Lights of duplication one has to have these 5 rolls in them do the ones has some licence Andrew Lawson dogshit typical Windows nonsense probably said he can screw your for another licence but you know what. Desktop services don't tell anyone though I like remote desktop safe. What does it do I hear you shout when I'm in with the civil water cylinder I want sentence.
[8:14] Remote desktop services allows you to run an application. From a remote server is ziffit running locally on your computer why, why would you want to do that lets say I use mobile xterm as my terminal emulator on ship goes, because I'm forced to use shit those at work so use mobile X10 for managing SSH sessions and it's really good I fucking actually bought that software that cost me 50 £60, and I bought it and it's great but find store it at work then I'm still at home, and then install it on my laptop I've got it licensed for one device there's three not to mention I'm always rebuilding laptops desktops and the like I just like always rebuilding for one reason or another.
[9:20] Run desktop services I install Mobile X10 on the remote desktop service I publish it as an application. Then you can do some crazy shit you're not going to bore you with which means you then have the icon on your desktop on your start menu on any of your other remote computers Nova x 10 icon you don't, you're not old not remote desktop into a machine and then opening your applications under a remote desktop experience you just have them over x 10, program icon on any of your machines any when you click it does some shit fires it up, I said just in a normal mobile xxx 10 app window looks like it's running on the remote server on for me. I like it but the point is. The right tool for the right job is where I'm going with this because I love Linux but I can't use Linux as a desktop operating system out of the way think we're getting they're not going to go into that today.
[10:26] So use Windows. And this allows me to the van to install and uninstall and manage my apps everywhere separately on management one place and then I can remotely connect to the moon launch than whatever machine I'm on and it works. And it's Linux for servers for me and it's windows for the desktop experience and this just makes that a little bit more. Janice aqua so sometimes it's about using the right tool for the right job sometimes shit dose is required.
[11:04] Proxmox I've mentioned this before on the show it's the hypervisor that I run on my Dell 710 I've got in the garage, 128gb of RAM 24 central processing unit.
[11:26] An raid 10 4 disc set regional used to run the vms from NAS box which is in the house. But having the VM is running locally on the Dell R17 in proxmox you can feel the difference. So I actually last night I killed existing raid 1 on my proximity. We built them as raid 10 more disks for more space and rings for proxmox and it was. It was bottom of the ends up again last night because it's just fucking so easy as migrated the date of the last of my creative back last night, I will be looking for a hypervisor give proximate to go no messing around it's free open source and you can get rid of that annoying message that comes up when you try and login, that's a no no deep shit this week.
[12:22] No deep shit I'm going to leave it there thank you for tuning in. Maybe only just north and Gear next week for going deep before this week technical stuff. Keep it real keep it crisp.
[12:51] Peace motherfuckers.
Buy me a coffee
