Dundas man tries to blame kid An 18 year old Dundas man tried to blame his 14 year old companion for blasting windows out of a car at Mill Park in Dundas and stealing contents. Brandon Hatfield is charged with 1st degree Aiding and abetting damage to property, a felony, and receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. According to the criminal complaint, the pair were walking past Mill Park when they noticed a vehicle. Hatfield told police that the 14-year-old said “let’s [mess] it up,” and the boy shot out the windows with a pellet gun. Hatfield said he tried to get him to leave. He denied taking anything from the scene. When officers talked with the 14-year-old, he told police that Hatfield found a bat at the ball field and “nailed” the front windshield and started to hit the window, before shooting the car with the pellet gun. According to police, a number of text messages between the two showed Hatfield admitted to shooting and attempting to hide the bat. Police earlier spotted the pair with various items on them believed to be used in the destruction and items from the vehicle. The cost of repairs to the vehicle is estimated at more than $1,000 dollars. Hatfield faces up to five years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge. Castle Rock Store looking for support to sell local liquor Castle Rock Store owner Monty Grinager is looking to add off-sale liquor. He wants to specialize in local brews and wines. He’s had a lot of support from the distillers, brewers, farmers, the community and even Dakota County, who checked the variances and did a background check. Six months ago, Waterford Township had an issue with it. They were “uncomfortable with it” because it’s in an agricultural preserve zone. The store, which sells gas and convenience items, is right in town on 280th St W and has been there since the ‘70’s. Grinager pays commercial preferred taxes. Waterford told him that with enough support they would vote for it. You can help Grinager by showing up at the meeting tonight at 7 o’clock at Waterford Township Hall at 3847 321st St W in Northfield.
